Pekka Isosomppi to serve as a press officer in London

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has appointed Pekka Isosomppi to the position of Press Counsellor at the Finnish Embassy in London as of 1 December. The term of appointment is for three years.

Isosomppi transfers to the Foreign Ministry from Nokia, where he has held various global management posts in communications since 1997. He has broad experience of the strategic planning in the field of communications. He has also been involved in diverse communications projects, practical media work and crisis communications on various continents. Most of his experience comes from the media environment in London.

Prior to working for Nokia, Isosomppi worked as an information officer at the University of Helsinki. He holds the degree of Master of Social Sciences.

Press officers are responsible for the Embassy’s public diplomacy activities. In London, the Press Counsellor is also responsible for the Embassy’s media centre project. Its objective is to maintain extensive relations with both the British media and the international network of accredited correspondents in London.
