Finland hosted a seminar for the newly-elected and current Security Council member states in November.
The seminar, entitled “Hitting the ground running”, was organised for the ninth time together with the Security Council Affairs Division of the UN Secretariat and Professor Edward C. Luck.
The objective of the workshop is to familiarise the newly-elected members with the practice, procedure, and working methods of the Council. In October 2011, the General Assembly elected Azerbaijan, Guatemala, Morocco, Pakistan and Togo as the five new non-permanent members for two-year mandates commencing in January 2012.
The two-day workshop was attended by participants from all current and incoming member states of the Council.
