Press Release 67/2013
21.3.2013

Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja will participate in the informal meeting of EU ministers of foreign affairs (Gymnich) to be held in Dublin on 22−23 March.

During the two-day meeting, the foreign ministers will discuss the current state of the European External Action Service and efficiency of its operations as well as future development needs of this activity. The discussion will serve as an introduction to the mid-term review of the European External Action Service, to be conducted this year.

The ministers will also discuss EU partnerships and cooperation with regional organisations. In these talks, they will contemplate how the EU can take the highest advantage of its earlier experiences and advance cooperation in the future.

The situation of Syria and the EU action in the area are also on the meeting agenda. The ministers will discuss which EU measures could best promote finding solution to the crisis.
