The new Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Fatou Bensouda will visit Helsinki on 27 and 28 November at the invitation of Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja. In addition to Foreign Minister Tuomioja, during her visit Bensouda will meet, for example, Minister of Justice Anna-Maja Henriksson, representatives of the Finnish court and prosecution system, and she will also pay a visit to the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee.
Prosecutor Bensouda will be the main speaker at the seminar related to the decade-long history of the ICC, organised under the title “Peace and Justice: Reflections from the ICC Prosecutor” by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Eric Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights (ECI). The commentary addresses at the seminar will be made by Minister Elisabeth Rehn, the Chair of the Board of Directors of the ICC Trust Fund for Victims, and Academy Professor Martti Koskenniemi. The opening address will be given by Pertti Torstila, Secretary of State, Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
The seminar will be held in the Assembly Hall of the University of Helsinki main building at Fabianinkatu 33 on Tuesday 27 November at 4 to 5:30 pm. The seminar is open to the public, but requires a registration no later than 26 November.
